Recognizing Different Types of Learning Disability for Proper Treatment

Learning disability treatment is something crucial and necessary for children with learning disability. The treatment must be given properly to them to support their daily life and their daily activities for brighter future. As a matter of fact, the treatment should not be given randomly. It is because each child with learning disability requires different treatment depending on the type of learning disability they have. According to medical journals, there are quite many types of learning disability which are marked with different signs and symptoms.

Since many years ago, people have known about dyslexia. Many people claim that dyslexia is a kind of illness. However, according to modern medical journal, dyslexia is a type of ability disorder. Dyslexia is defined as learning disability which affects children reading ability. Children with dyslexia may not show any specific symptoms before they attend any formal education. However, following their ages, the children will show specific problems in recognizing letter, spelling, and number. As a result, children with dyslexia will find another problem in writing. Specific learning disability treatment must be given since their early ages to help them to avoid manifesting problems in the future. The second type of learning disability is Sensory Integration Disorder (SID). This learning disability mostly affects both fine and gross motor skills. Children with SID may show specific symptoms, such as inability to write, inability to use particular tools, inability to run, inability to catch an object, and so on. This disability is mostly caused by poor eye-hand coordination. The third type of learning disability is Control Auditory Process Disorder (CAPD). CAPD is a kind of learning disability which affects the process of receiving information which requires listening. This learning disability makes children have problem in understanding information and following instructions. However, it does not mean that children with this type of learning disability have problem or illness in their ears. It is because the coordination between brain and neuron is poor.

Considering so many types of learning disability, it is required for parents with disabled children to select proper education for their children. Besides, parents should always pay attention to their children development. Parents’ attention is the biggest aid to help their children to develop themselves without feeling different from the other children. On the other hand, parents should also treat their disabled children in proper way to avoid any problem in their confidence. Proper and right learning disability treatment is required to give as well.
